Myanmar Tourism Starts to Boom

YANGON, 22 March 2019: the difficult year of 2018 had passed and people are celebrating for a new year of 2019 – the year hold a series of good news for Myanmar tourism. In January, the percentage of visitors rose up to 19%, noted by Myanmar Tourism Marketing Association.

According to the country’s hotels and tourism ministry, the number of foreign visitors touches to the record of 160,000 and the number of domestic flights to Bagan, Kalaw and Inle lake has increased significantly. Hotels are fully booked in the month of January.

This has led to the fact that many more international hotel brands are investing in the country. The pioneers are Courtyard by Marriott and Sheraton Hotel, provided the service in the near future.

Prime Residence had empowered Rose Hotels & Resorts to control Rosewood Yangon – the first brand of property in Myanmar and the seventh in Asia. Date of active has not been published.

Also in January, the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) found its branch in Myanmar, which will support the country to open a booth at the ASTA Global Convention this August and bring the Myanmar Road Show to a great number of US travel advisors.

The first Rakhine Investment Fair was organized in February in Ngapali, sponsored by Myanmar Investment Commission, Rakhine state government and co-organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The Rakhine Investment formed partnerships with investors, which gave hotels and tourism industry chances to develop.

 

May-Myat-Mon-Win

The chairman of Myanmar Tourism Marketing – May Myat Mon Win informed that Myanmar is the hidden gem of Southeast Asia and promised to bring profit to investors. In addition, we all consider tourism will form a stronger bond between nations and support the country to develop, to build peace and relieve the race or religion distinction.

As it is stated in the country’s foreign investment laws that foreign investors are allowed to own 35% of the registered capital of a domestic company. It is available for companies and organizations possess local guesthouses, restaurants, bars or hotels.
